SNHU’s Praml earns NE-10 honor

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Junior Jeffrey Praml of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team was selected as the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 1, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

The Penmen, ranked 21st in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll, went 3-0 last week as they swept a three-game set on the road from the defending East Region Champion and eighth-ranked New York Institute of Technology. During its current eight-game winning streak, SNHU is outscoring its opponents, 87-19.

Praml fired a complete-game one hitter, allowed one earned run, struck out seven and walked two, as SNHU defeated New York Tech, 4-1, in Sunday’s seven-inning nightcap.

In three appearances this season, including two starts, Praml is 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA, striking out 16 and walking three, over 15-and-a-third innings. He is tied for the league lead in wins, while ranking fourth in ERA, seventh in innings pitched, eighth in strikeouts and ninth in batting average against (.098).

Praml and the Penmen kick off a three-game set at Adelphi University on March 7 with a doubleheader that begins at noon.
