Rankings: Battling for No. 1

NEW HAMPSHIRE HARDBALL
High School Rankings

The Top 10 NHIAA baseball teams after Week 3 of the regular season. Records are according to the latest information provided to New Hampshire Hardball.

1. Pinkerton (11-1)
The Astros have won 10 in a row since dropping a 2-1 decision to Alvirne. Quality wins include a 3-1 victory over Alvirne and a 5-1 victory against Winnacunnet.

2. Winnacunnet (12-2)
The Warriors remain in the No. 2 spot despite dropping a 6-2 decision to Concord in their last game. Winnacunnet’s next two game are interesting matchups with Portsmouth.

3. Londonderry (11-2)
Londonderry didn’t give itself a chance in Thursday’s 11-1 loss to Nashua North, but rebounded by beating Exeter 5-1 Saturday.

4. Portsmouth (10-2)
We’ll have a better idea how good these Clippers are after they face Winnacunnet on Monday and Wednesday. It’s noteworthy that Portsmouth ace Ryan Minckler was injured during last Monday’s 9-7 victory over Exeter.

5. Alvirne (9-2)
Alvirne climbed into the top five, but has two tough games against No. 3 Londonderry this week.

6. Bedford (9-2)
The Bulldogs haven’t lost since opening the season with back-to-back setbacks against Concord.

7. Concord (10-3)
Very little separates the Crimson Tide from the teams ranked one through six.

8. Hollis/Brookline (7-1)
The Cavaliers split two games with Souhegan last week. Souhegan’s 5-2 victory Friday is Hollis/Brookline’s only loss.

9. Souhegan  (9-2)
The Sabers move into the Top 10 after beating Hollis/Brookline 5-2 Friday. That followed a 7-1 loss to the Cavs. Souhegan’s only other loss came against Division I Windham (4-2).

10. Keene (8-3)
The Blackbirds remain in the Top 10 despite Thursday’s 9-8 loss to Manchester Central. The team’s remaining schedule includes two games against Bedford and two against Concord.

ON DECK: Hanover (8-0), Coe-Brown (6-0), Kingswood (8-1), Milford (6-1) and White Mountains (8-2) and Windam (6-2-1).
