Dominant pitching earns NEC first win

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Junior Austin Hazzard (Weare, N.H.) tossed five scoreless innings and struck out 10 to help the New England College baseball team defeat Penn State-Berks 10-0 for the program’s first victory of the season.

Through two starts Hazzard has a 0.90 ERA and a 43.1 strikeout pecentage. Senior right-hander Stephen Dunham (Manchester, N.H.) struck out five in three innings innings of relief before Brett Patnode (Weare, N.H.) pitched a one-two-three ninth.

Patnode also help out on offense by reaching base four times. He leads the team in  batting average (.583), OBP (.667), and OPS (1.334) through three games.
