Wachter named Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. — Southern New Hampshire University freshman Nater Wachter (Concord, N.H.) earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors for the period ending March 17, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Wachter went 4-for-11 (.364) with three extra-base hits, including a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored, while drawing a pair of walks, during a 2-1 week for the Penmen. He slashed .462/.818/1.280. Wachter’s top performance came in a 10-2 win over Post University on Sunday when he went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Through 18 games, Wachter is hitting .315 with 14 runs scored, five home runs and 17 RBIs. He is tied for second in the NE10 in home runs, while ranking fourth in slugging percentage (.648), sixth in walks (14), seventh in total bases (35), ninth in RBIs, 14th in on-base percentage (.449), 17th in runs and 25th in hits.

Wachter and the Penmen are back in action Saturday, when they take on Southern Connecticut State University in doubleheader that begins at noon.
